Our home in Albion Park Rail is a beautifully refreshed family home in the heart of the Illawarra, just inland from Wollongong's beaches and the Lake Illawarra foreshore. The exterior is classic Australian sandstone-brick with a low-pitch tile roof, two large feature foxtail palms framing the front yard, a wide concrete driveway with split-grass-strip styling, a pristine green lawn and a covered Colorbond carport extension to the side. Inside, the home has had a top-to-bottom modern refresh: bright fresh white walls, light timber-look plank floors throughout, recessed downlights, a generous open-plan living and dining area with a wall-mounted TV on a contemporary charcoal media unit, a stylish round drum coffee table on a geometric rug and a comfortable champagne fabric lounge setting. A classic 1970s brick archway leads through to the dining area beyond. Winston is our cheerful 5-year-old Beagle, the absolute classic of the breed: friendly, curious, sociable and brilliant with kids and other dogs. He needs at least one decent walk per day and loves a good sniff around Lake Illawarra. He is fed twice a day, fully vaccinated, microchipped and in excellent health. Albion Park Rail is a wonderful base for exploring the Illawarra: minutes from Lake Illawarra and Windang Beach, an easy drive to Wollongong, the Royal National Park, Stanwell Tops and the Sea Cliff Bridge.
