Safety guide

    Safety and trust on Sitterly

Sitterly connects homeowners and sitters directly. It gives you the tools to get to know each other, but you choose who stays, so here is exactly where Sitterly's part ends and yours begins.

    What Sitterly does

    • Confirms every email address

Nobody can create a listing or a sitter profile until they have confirmed their email.

    • Keeps your address private

Listings show suburb, state and postcode only. Your street address and phone number are never shown publicly; you share them in messages when you're ready.

    • Only lets published members start a conversation

A member needs a published listing or sitter profile before they can message someone first. Anyone can reply to a message they receive.

    • Lets you report a profile or listing

Every sitter profile and home listing has a Report option, and reports go to the Sitterly team.

    What Sitterly doesn't do

    • Run police checks, ID checks or background checks
    • Vet, approve or recommend members
    • Provide pet, property or liability insurance
    • Guarantee a booking, a sitter or anyone's safety
    • Supervise sits or handle payments between members

Before you agree to a sit

The same steps help homeowners and sitters alike.

    1. Read the whole profile or listing, then ask your questions in Sitterly messages.
    2. Ask for references. Sitters can show "References available" and share the details with you directly.
    3. Have a video call, or meet in person, before you agree.
    4. Write the arrangement down: dates, routines, vet details and what happens if plans change.
    5. Check your own insurance covers someone staying in, or caring for, the home.
    6. Share your street address only once you have chosen each other.

    If something feels wrong

Stop and don't share more details. Use Report on the profile or listing, or email support@sitterly.com.au. Sitterly will never ask for your password or payment details in a message.

    In an emergency

Call 000 if anyone is in danger, or a vet if a pet needs urgent care. Sitterly can't respond to emergencies.
