Welcome to our beautifully restored Federation cottage in central Albury, the lovely border-river city straddling the Murray. The home is one of the loveliest character cottages in town: classic red-brick facade with white-painted timber trim, decorative gabled bargeboards and finials, a bullnose-iron front verandah painted dark grey, three perfectly pruned topiary balls flanking the entry path, and a classic timber white picket fence opening to the street. Inside, the home has been meticulously renovated while keeping the heritage charm: high decorative ceilings with original cornices, a stunning open-plan kitchen and family room with timber-top island bench, white shaker cabinetry, gas cooktop, designer rangehood and three industrial bar stools, polished cork floors, a bright and spacious dining area with a glass-top dining table for six, plantation shutters throughout, ducted air-conditioning and gorgeous afternoon light. Pearl is our gentle 6-year-old retired Greyhound (the original 40-mile-an-hour couch potato). She is calm, soft-natured, beautifully house-trained, perfectly happy with a 30-minute walk a day and otherwise sleeps on her bed in the lounge. She is fed twice a day, fully vaccinated, microchipped and in great health. Albury is a wonderful regional base: minutes from the Murray River and the Hume and Hovell walking tracks, the Albury Botanical Gardens, the Albury LibraryMuseum, Lake Hume and an easy drive to Beechworth, Rutherglen wineries and the Victorian high country.
