Henrietta is our 3-year-old Isa Brown chicken (the chestnut one) and Bonnie is our 2-year-old Australorp (the glossy black one). They are friendly, free-ranging in the fenced yard during the day, and the easiest pets to look after: a cup of layer pellets and fresh water in the morning, a handful of veggie scraps and locking the coop at sunset is all they need. They lay a beautiful fresh egg each most mornings as a thank you. Punchbowl is wonderfully placed in inner south-west Sydney: minutes from Bankstown, Greenacre Park, fantastic Lebanese and Vietnamese food along Canterbury Road, and an easy train ride to Sydney CBD.
