Character Goldfields Cottage in South Kalgoorlie, Two Easy-Going Cats

Our home in South Kalgoorlie is a gorgeous piece of Goldfields history, a classic timber weatherboard miner's cottage with the original bullnose verandah, hand-turned timber posts painted in heritage maroon, original timber sash windows and a green-painted bullnose corrugated iron roof. It's full of character and tells the story of Kalgoorlie's gold-rush past in every room. Inside, the home is comfortable, lived-in and family-friendly, high pressed-metal-style ceilings, ceiling fan, generous living area with two grey velvet recliner sofas perfectly positioned for the large smart TV, and an open archway through to the kitchen with white cabinetry, gas cooktop, oven and a small breakfast nook. The bedrooms are cosy and quiet, and the home is heated and cooled to keep things comfortable through both Goldfields winters and summers. Mittens is our 12-year-old tortoiseshell, independent, sweet and especially fond of an evening chin scratch. Pepper is our 9-year-old tabby, a settled, friendly old boy who mostly sleeps and eats. Both cats are indoor-outdoor, fully vaccinated, desexed and microchipped, and they share dry food once a day with occasional wet food. South Kalgoorlie is full of Goldfields character, close to the iconic Super Pit, Hannans North, the Mining Hall of Fame, Lake Ballard and the wider Goldfields Tourist Loop.
